GLORIA CHAPARRO
JUNIOR SOUS CHEF
Born in El Paso, Texas, and raised in Juarez, Mexico, Gloria cites her mother as her biggest inspiration for her enthusiasm in the culinary arts – “she always cooked with so much love.”
She came to live in Hawaii after an opportunity to work on the luxury cruise ship Pride of America, where she stepped out of her comfort zone of Mexican-American cooking to a more diverse portfolio of international fusion cuisines. When her ship contract ended in 2023, she decided to stay on Oahu and focus her talents on the industry here.
Now a junior sous chef at Basalt, she looks forward to supporting her new culinary team.
